Xiaomi MIUI 13 was supposed to arrive late last year, but Xiaomi decided to release an incremental version of MIUI 12. That’s how we came to see MIUI 12.5, which the Enhanced Edition is currently rolling out. Given the rollout schedule, it’s unclear if the latter is for selected Xiaomi phones. Perhaps, Xiaomi is prioritizing devices with issues that have been addressed with the current MIUI version. That seems to be the case as the company has already set sight on MIUI 13, although only a few users have received the MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition.
However, the unveiling of Xiaomi MIUI 13 Android skin won’t stop the deployment of MIUI 12.5 Enhanced, but that’s if the update is for all Xiaomi phones. Well, it’s a different situation for the MIUI 13 as all Xiaomi phones with active support will receive the update. For starters, Xiaomi supports their phones for three years, and hence, any device released in the past two years will receive the Xiaomi MIUI 13 update.
According to reports, the update won’t see virtual changes as in the case of MIUI 12. The company will essentially improve on power consumption and stability. The latter is what the company has failed to address for some time, and it’s what constitutes the problems being faced by MIUI users. Hopefully, MIUI 13 puts an end to most of these problems plaguing MIUI Android skin.
Meanwhile, before the recent report, we knew the Xiaomi MIUI 13 Android skin is coming towards the end of the year. It was Lei Jun, Xiaomi’s Chief Executive Officer that made the announcement. He just affirmed that on Weibo recently, meaning that the update could arrive next month. Perhaps, the company wants to repeat the event of last year. They presented MIUI 12.5 in the same event that saw the unveiling of Xiaomi Mi 11.
And while that seems to be the case, the Xiaomi 12 will likely debut with MIUI 12.5 Enhanced. That’s because MIUI 13 Android skin isn’t stable yet. Besides, it hasn’t been released to closed beta groups, meaning there’s still a long way before it starts coming pre-installed in a new device. Nevertheless, the Xiaomi 12 will be the first to receive the update after launch.
