Android phone users are getting a preliminary look at what could be some of the features coming to Android 13 in 2022 ahead of the Android 12L upgrade. According to the early info, Google’s mobile OS upgrade may improve notifications, battery management, and the way apps handle different languages.

Phone, Android, Apps, World Map

Before we go any further, these features were discovered by the folks at XDA. They were able to get their hands on an early build of next version of Android “Tiramisu” and discovered some major changes. Given that we’re still a few months away from even a developer preview, the look and many of the modifications we’ve seen so far could be changed or omitted, but it’s still interesting to see what Google has planned.

With that in mind, let’s have a brief look at the potential features of Android 13 below.

Android 13 Potential Features and Changes

Generally, every Android version upgrade introduces a slew of new features and modifications. Some are monumental, while others are modest and hidden. Android 12 brought about a long-overdue major overhaul. As a result, we don’t expect Android 13 to appear drastically different from Android 12.

Going further, let’s have a look at the potential feature of Android 13 below;

1. Native support for DNS over HTTPS

At the moment, Android only supports DNS over TLS, often known as DoT. According to an Android Open Source Project code update, Android 13 will have support for DNS over HTTPS for DoH.

2. Disable Background App limitations

The Android 12 version introduced Phantom Process Killer, which is a new background app limiter, and an aggressive background process killer. Even though it costs more RAM and energy usage, if you’re a power user, you don’t want your background processes to be stopped. Google appears to have understood this, and Android 13 may have a toggle to disable the background app limiting feature.

3.  Support for Bluetooth LE Audio

The basis for Bluetooth Low Energy Audio, a new standard for low-power audio transmission for Bluetooth, is included in Android 12. However, there is currently no complete support for BLE Audio transmission. According to sources, that is set to change in Android 13.

4. App Languages

According to some sources, Google is working on a new Panlingual feature that would allow users to set different languages for each app. For multilingual users who wish to utilize various apps in specific languages, this will undoubtedly be a huge bonus. According to the source, users will notice a new option called App Languages under Languages & Input where they can designate a language to a specific app.

6. Runtime Permission for Notifications

This feature on Android 13 will be your savior if you dislike getting too many notifications on your phone from undesirable apps. Currently, any app can send you alerts, including promotional ones, that may or may not be spam.

For notifications, Android 13 promises to include new runtime permission called “POST NOTIFICATIONS.” This means that while setting up an app on Android 13, notifications may become an opt-in feature.

That’s pretty much all we know about Android 13 thus far. Please keep in mind that we will continue to update this guide when new features and improvements in Android 13 become available. What are your expectations for Android 13 given that Android 12 was a significant update? What new features would you like to see in the next Android version?
