Google expects to reach Android 13 platform stability next month, with the release of Android 13 beta 3. The company recently released the beta 2 preview, which brings some changes and bug fixes. And while that is true, those running the current Android 13 beta 2 are reporting laggy animation and stuttering while scrolling.
According to a report on Reddit, after installing the Android 13 beta 2, every app stutters. It feels the refresh rate is “very low,” but that isn’t the case. Checking with the Developer option shows the refresh rate is at 90Hz. Of course, that is the maximum for the Pixel 5, which is the device in question.
There is also an issue when the device running the latest Android 13 beta 2 lags on opening settings from the control center. Unlocking the phone is also slow, but a quick look at the Reddit thread shows only a few people are experiencing the latter.
Meanwhile, stuttering experienced when scrolling in an app seems to be affecting multiple users. Luckily, there’s a workaround, and it’s pretty simple. According to a Redditor who also experienced the issue, he was able to improve his device performance by following the below steps;
How to fix stuttering while scrolling on Pixel phones running Android 13 beta 2
- Head over to the settings app
- Click on display, and on the next page, turn off the ‘Smooth Display’ option.
- After that, reboot your device, and everything should be fine.
Hopefully, the next Android 13 preview release addresses other problems being reported after the installation of the current build. Of course, the bugs were expected, and you should use the feedback app to log bugs.
