If you want to turn off CarPlay on iPhone, you can do that in two easy ways. You can either switch it off by using the Restrictions tab in Settings or forget the connected vehicle. Stick with me as I walk you through the processes in detail.
What is Apple CarPlay?
Apple CarPlay is a feature built into many newer vehicles that enables you to sync your iPhone device with the vehicle’s infotainment system which then allows you to use some iPhone applications such as the touchscreen display, voice command, audio system, etc., on your car’s integrated interface.
While the Apple CarPlay is a useful feature that helps you connect your iPhone to your car’s infotainment device, not many people are fond of it, and there are times when you’d wish to turn it off. We’ll walk you through the processes in the next paragraph.
How to Turn Off Apple CarPlay on iPhone with the Settings App
To turn off CarPlay on iPhone through the Settings app, follow the below process:
- Launch your iPhone Settings app
- Touch on General
- Tap CarPlay
- The list of Vehicles connected to your iPhone will be displayed. Select the one you want to forget.
- Next, hit the Forget This Car option.
- A pop-up will appear asking you if you want to forget the car selected, go ahead and hit the red Forget option to confirm.
You have successfully turned off CarPlay on your iPhone for just a selected vehicle. To off CarPlay totally, you will be using the Restrictions feature in the Settings app.
Turn off CarPlay on iPhone through Restrictions
This method should only be used if you want to completely turn off CarPlay on your iPhone for all vehicles connected. And to do that, follow the steps below:
- Launch your iPhone Settings app.
- Hit on Screen Time.
- Touch on Content & Privacy Restrictions.
- Switch on the toggle for the Content & and Privacy Restrictions feature from gray to green, if it’s the first time you will be using it.
- Next, tap Allowed Apps.
- Now turn off the CarPlay toggle by tapping on it, to take it from the gray colour to green.
Following the second method will deactivate CarPlay from every vehicle.
