Speaking of chipset performance generally, you can say the two big birds are the Snapdragon and Bionic but it seems Mediatek has come up with a magnificent piece of tech. Before the debut of Mediatek Dimensity 9200, it was said that the chip would outperform the latest Apple A16 Bionic chip, but those were just baseless conclusions.
Well, the Mediatek Dimensity 9200 is already in the tech world and is currently on the Vivo X90 series(the only Mediatek Dimensity 9200-powered smartphone in the market currently). The chip is integrated with the Immortalis-G715 GPU and fortunately, the popular performance tester, Golden Reviewer, has put the Vivo X90 through the GPU test. Let’s check out what we’ve got.
The impressive performance of the Mediatek Dimensity 9200
First off, the test kick-started with the 3DMark Wildlife Extreme test and the chip scaled through with a score of 3627 and average power consumption of 8.2W. For reference, the latest Apple A16 Bionic chip has a score of 3359 and an average power consumption of 7.6W – that’s a significant gap.
That said, the efficiency across the two chips is quite identical. Compared to its predecessor, Mediatek Dimensity 9000, the Dimensity 9200 is 50 percent more powerful although with a little improvement in the efficiency section.
Apart from the 3DMark Wildlife Extreme test, the chip passed through the 1080P and 1440 Vulkan tests, both of which the Dimensity 9200 proved superior to the Apple A16 Bionic. Oh well, that’s another chip surpassing the A16 Bionic in terms of GPU after the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset had done the same.
