Google has been making some changes to Android Auto in recent months. The tech company, a couple of days ago, released the Coolwalk feature to everyone with Android Auto 8.6 stable and currently working on other features exclusive to beta users.
The latest Android Auto 8.7 beta focuses on navigation, communication, and media controls. With the current release, Google has moved the Map closer to the driver for easy accessibility. That would allow getting details of where you’re headed at a glance.
Of course, the split screen function gets some improvements, with the new launcher allowing swift access to your recently used apps. They’re displayed on the taskbar for easy accessibility.
Testing has started to bring Key sharing to other smartphone brands like Samsung and Xiaomi. Currently, only Pixel and iPhones support this feature, but Google is making progress to enable it to other brands.
Also, WhatsApp calls with Android Auto are being worked on. With the feature, you can initiate calls using WhatsApp and receive calls via the same medium. Other features integrated with the Android Auto 8.7 beta includes on-screen shortcuts and a seekable progress bar for music podcasts.
