If you’re someone who always looks forward to an important event, then you might want to have a countdown widget on your iPhone or iPad’s Home Screen. This way, you can easily keep track of the time left until the event starts and stay excited about it. However, by default, iOS 16 doesn’t offer any built-in countdown widgets.

Basic Steps To Create a Countdown Home Screen Widget on iOS and iPadOS

Step #1: Find and Download a Countdown Widget App

To begin with, you need to find and download a countdown widget app from the App Store. Head over to the App Store on your iPhone or iPad and search for “countdown widget.” You’ll see a list of apps that offer countdown widget features. For this guide, we’ll be using the Countdown Widget app. However, you can choose any other app that you like.

Step #2: Create a New Countdown Timer

Once you’ve installed the countdown widget app, launch it, and tap on the plus (+) button to create a new countdown timer. Fill in the necessary details like the event’s Title, Date, and Time fields, and you can also adjust the tile’s cosmetics to your preference. When you’re done, tap on the checkmark symbol in the top right corner to save the event.

Step #3: Add the Countdown Widget to Your Home Screen

Go back to your Home Screen and tap and hold anywhere on it to initiate Jiggle Mode. Then, tap on the plus (+) button in the top left corner to add a new widget. Scroll down and choose the Countdown widget from the list of widgets.

Step #4: Customize the Countdown Widget

Tap on “Add Widget,” and the countdown widget will appear on your Home Screen. Tap on the widget to open the app and select the event you’ve just created. You can also customize the widget’s design by using the provided toggles. When you’re satisfied with the customization, tap anywhere on the Home Screen to dismiss it.

Step #5: Enjoy Your Countdown Widget

That’s it! You’ve successfully created a countdown Home Screen widget on your iOS or iPadOS device. The widget will now display the countdown timer until your event starts. You can add more events and widgets in the future using the same app, which is much faster since you won’t have to install the app again.

Final Words

Creating a countdown Home Screen widget on iOS and iPadOS is relatively simple and requires only a few steps. By following this guide, you can keep track of the time left until important events and get excited about them. Remember, you can use any countdown widget app of your choice, so feel free to experiment with different apps and designs until you find the perfect fit for you!
