Samsung starts testing Android 14 ahead of the stable release

The recent months have seen Samsung overtake Google in rolling out the latest security patch updates. While the Korean company is leading on that front, Google still determines when eligible Samsung phones receive a new Android OS upgrade. With the stable Android 14 expected to start rolling out in August, Samsung is working to release the update to its eligible phones within that time frame as it starts testing Android 14 internally.

Samsung starts testing Android 14 ahead of the stable release

After a successful Developer preview, Google released the Android 14 beta 1 update. Of course, the update is exclusive to Pixel users that signed up as beta testers, while only Samsung developers can access the build for now.

The company is currently testing the Android 14 update internally for its Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4. Galaxy S23 series phones are also participating in the test, and we expect more devices to join the testing in the coming weeks.

It’s interesting to see Samsung and Xiaomi testing the Android 14 upgrade already. Both companies started testing previous Android OS upgrades around June. We may see these companies release the update in early Q4.

And while Xiaomi will release Android 14 with a stable MIUI 15 update, Samsung is expected to roll out the update with the One UI 6.0. For now, there are not many details, but we hope to learn more in the coming weeks.
