After months of waiting for the MIUI 12 and Android 10 to arrive for the Redmi Note 8, Xiaomi finally released the update a couple of days ago. It was the Chinese users that received the update, which was believed will start arriving on the global units after a few days. And just as many expected, Xiaomi has now released a new update for the Redmi Note 8.
Unfortunately, the new update for the Redmi Note 8 isn’t what many users were expecting. It brought neither the MIUI 12 nor the Android 10 update, which has arrived on the Chinese model. The update is just another security patch build aimed at system optimization and bug fixes.
Thus far, only selected users are receiving the update, and that’s because it is a “beta stable build’. It comes in a 173MB package with a software version number, MIUI 11.0.11.0 PCOMIXM. We expect the public rollout to start in the coming days, but that depends on the feedback from the few that will get the update.
To scan for the new update, head over to system updates, or you can follow the link below and download the recovery ROM. As for when the MIUI 12 update will arrive on the global Redmi Note 8, we can’t say exactly, especially now the device is receiving a new MIUI 11-based security patch update.
We may be about to witness what’s happening with the Redmi Note 7. The device, for months now, has received the MIUI 12 update in China, but the global variants are still running MIUI 11. However is a different story at least, the device has received the Android 10 build, unlike the Redmi Note 8, which will get both Android 10 and MIUI 12 simultaneously.
Nevertheless, you should go on and download the new update for the Redmi Note 8. It will help in a seamless transition to MIUI 12 when the update is ready.
