MIUI 13

Alleged features of MIUI 13 surface online

A few weeks from now, Xiaomi will unveil the next iteration of MIUI (MIUI 13). The development started after the unveiling of MIUI 12. However, due to a series of bugs reported after upgrading, the company decided on an intermediary build. That’s probably why MIUI 12.5 came to be, and it is currently rolling out to eligible units across the globe. The deployment is moving swiftly as the company already set its sights on MIUI 13, expected to launch in August.

Features of MIUI 13

As usual, features of MIUI 13 have been limited, with the few we have seen arriving as part of a closed beta build. That’s how we usually get to know about new MIUI features, and given the launch time frame of the next version, all recent features will probably arrive with MIUI 13. So far, we have seen Balanced and Performance mode added to the battery saver layout to optimize power consumption. The company has also made some adjustments to its security features, the latest being the shutdown confirmation.

However, even with the changes, features of MIUI 13 remain limited, but thanks to the news coming out of China, we might have just got a glimpse of what the next version will present. According to Digital Blogger, Panda via MIUI 12 Official telegram group, the features of MIUI 13 might include six major changes. They include;

Alleged features of MIUI 13

  • New Small Window Mode
  • Memory Fusion Technology / Virtual RAM Expansion
  • New Desktop Icons
  • New Fonts
  • New Sound Effects
  • Layered Rendering System Animation

Looking at the alleged features, they are not entirely new. Most of them have already arrived for close beta groups. The Memory Fusion technology / Virtual RAM Expansion is available for Redmi Note 10 Pro 5G in China, and hopefully, MIUI 13 will see wider deployment. The new ‘Desktop icon and ‘New Fonts’ have probably been seeded in China with the revamped File manager app.

About the ‘Small Window Mode,’ it’s probably for gaming. Perhaps, it will allow games to be open in small resolution instead of using the full display resolution. We expect an improved animation and the introduction of new system sounds. Of course, it is still a rumor, and such, we advise you to treat it as such.
