Xiaomi is now sending out the Android 10 update for the Redmi 7 in India, a couple of days after the global models received the update. Initially, it was believed that the update would arrive alongside MIUI 12, but according to Xiaomi, the device isn’t compatible with the update. They had to pull it from the list of phones that’ll receive the update, and it seems the Redmi Note 5/5 Pro has joined as well.
As usual, the Android 10 update for the Redmi 7 is rolling out to selected users. It will take some days before making it to all eligible users, which is always the case with OTA updates. The update will arrive with a stable MIUI based Android 10, updated Android Security patch to December 2020, and improved system security. You can scan the update by heading to the Updater App (System Updates) or use the links below this post.
Meanwhile, the update comes in a 1.8GB package and has a version number, MIUI 11.0.3.0 QFLINXM. It’s a cross-section Android upgrade and might need time to adapt to the system. And hence, you’re likely to experience lags and glitches, and we recommend that you back up your files in case you need to perform a factory reset. However, there hasn’t been a report of such, which means the update is safe, and you can download it. But most times, the outcome isn’t the same for everyone, and you should backup before installing.
