Xiaomi has started pushing an Android 11-based MIUI 12 update for global Redmi Note 8. That was expected after the European models bagged the update a couple of days to hint at an imminent Global release. The much-anticipated upgrade is here now, but as expected, it sans MIUI 12.5. It will arrive in the future with a different build, hopefully in the next few weeks. However, you can download and install the Android 11 update to bump the device OS and Android security patch level.
The Android 11-based MIUI 12 update for global Redmi Note 8 is seeding with a version number – MIUI 12.0.1.0 RCOMIXM. It weighs in at 2.3GB. Coming along with the update is a stable MIUI based on Android 11 and the July security patch update to increase system security and stability. That is commendable as the device becomes the first Xiaomi phone running MIUI on top of Android to receive the latest security patch.
Meanwhile, the update is still the device first Android 11 build, and as such, there are necessary measures to take before upgrading. That is because, Xiaomi Android 11 update has some known bugs, which some haven’t been addressed yet. The issue of third-party launchers and ugly square chat bubbles. Also, the keyboard overlapping when using floating windows in some cases is some of the problems that haven’t been fixed. Again, there have been complaints about lag and glitches after upgrading to Android 11. Luckily, you can fix that by performing a factory reset, but you should first back up your files.
Again, the update is on a limited rollout, and it will arrive for select users for now. However, with an authorized Mi Beta account, you can download the ROM via the links below. And don’t forget to follow our tracker page to know when the update becomes available in your region.
