Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 starts pushing Android 11 in Europe with a stable MIUI 12 update

The Redmi Note 8 remains the most successful mid-range phone in the company’s lineup. It has sold over 25 million units globally, which is probably, what triggered the company to upgrade the device to Android 11. The update has since arrived in China, hinting at an imminent global release, but that didn’t happen until now. According to the latest report, the Redmi Note 8 Android 11 update has started seeding in Europe. As usual, only select users are receiving the update for preview.

Xiaomi Android 11 update has some known bugs, some of which are yet to be addressed. That’s the reason why the update is exclusively seeding to Mi Pilots. They’re to preview the build for bugs, and depending on their feedback, the update will start rolling out to the public. However, if a bug is detected, the update might be delayed until the bug is fixed. And given the feedback from early Android 11 adopters, the public rollout will probably take some time. It brings a stable MIUI based on Android 11 and bumps the Android security patch level to May 2021 to increase system security. Also, Mi cloud has been adjusted to report location info automatically before the device is powered off. Expect these features and that baked inside Android 11 after the upgrade.
