For weeks now, Xiaomi has been rolling out the stable MIUI 12.5 update. And with Redmi 10X 5G still running the pre-installed Android OS, we thought the device would receive both updates simultaneously. However, that’s not the case as Xiaomi starts pushing a stable Android 11-based MIUI 12 update for the Redmi 10X 5G. Of course, it’s a Chinese rollout, given that the device never made it out of China.
Xiaomi launched the Redmi 10X 5G and the Pro variant exclusively for the Chinese market because the Redmi Note 9 series didn’t make it to China. That was the company response at the time, given that 5G has been widely adopted in that region — something the Redmi Note 9 series lacks. Aside from the 5G connectivity, the device has some fascinating features, which include an AMOLED display and a primary 48MP triple camera sensor.
The device debuted with Android 10 on top of MIUI 11 and has since bagged a stable MIUI 12 update. It’s also eligible for MIUI 12.5 and Android 11, of which the latter is now available for download. Aside from bringing a stable MIUI based on Android 11, the update also bumped the Android security patch level to April 2021. There’s a new option that allows you to restrict the opening control center while on the lock screen. See all changes below.
As usual, the Android 11-based MIUI 12 update for Redmi 10X 5G is on a limited rollout. Only a few selected users will receive the update for a preview, and in the end, if there are no bugs, the public rollout will commence. However, you have an option to download and install the update using the link below, but you might need an authorized Mi Beta account or TWRP Recovery.
