Xiaomi, in the last couple of months, has been busy deploying Android 11 to eligible phones in its stable. A bunch of them have already bagged the update, but things were slowed down to test the company’s latest iteration of MIUI. That’s now rolling out to eligible users with few devices getting both Android 11 and MIUI 12.5 simultaneously. The Redmi K20 Pro / Mi 9T Pro is currently receiving both builds. However, it’s a different situation for the vanilla version – Mi 9T – as Xiaomi starts rolling out a stable Android 11-based on MIUI 12 for global users.
Unlike the Redmi K20 Pro / Mi 9T Pro, the Mi 9T will receive the MIUI 12.5 with a separate build. That’s because the current update only pushed the Android OS to the current version (Android 11). Aside from bringing a stable MIUI based on Android 11, the update made some adjustments on Xiaomi Mi cloud – Location info can now be reported automatically before the device is powered off. Of course, all the features baked inside the Android OS also arrived with the package.
As usual, only a few selected users are currently receiving the Android 11-based MIUI 12 update for Xiaomi Mi 9T. The update is available as MIUI 12.1.2.0 RFJMIXM in 2.4GB package. It is unclear when the update will be available in other regions, but we expect it soon. However, you can keep an eye on our tracker page to know when the update becomes available in your region.
Meanwhile, it’s important to note that the current Android 11-based MIUI 12 update for Xiaomi Mi 9T is the first Android 11 build. There are some unknown bugs currently affecting all Xiaomi phones running that version on Android. The device becomes incompatible with third-party launchers after upgrading, and hence, you will have to switch to the system launcher. Of course, there might be other glitches and lag, which is why we recommend a backup before upgrading. And i you encounter any issues after updating, you should perform a factory reset to get the phone working.

The Mi 9T is receiving a new stable Android 11-based MIUI 12 update Globally. Unfortunately, the stabel MIUI 12.1.4.0 RFJMIXM sans the much-anticipated MIUI 12.5 build, but that might be the last build before the latest iteration of MIUI. You can download here: Recovery
