The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max has been without an update for months now, but it seems that is due to this good news. From reports, the device is now receiving a stable Android 11-based MIUI 12 update in India. That means the much-anticipated MIUI 12.5 update will arrive later, but given the speed at which Xiaomi has been deploying the update, it will be soon. Meanwhile, the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max Android 11 update is on a limited rollout, and it will take time before the update arrives for all eligible users.
Xiaomi released Android 11 for the Redmi Note 9 Pro in November 2020, and seven months later, it started seeding the build to the Pro Max. And while that seems like ages, the update has been plagued by bugs, and the company is yet to address some of them. They include third-party launcher issues, ugly square chat bubbles, overlapping keyboards on floating windows, and other minor bugs. Unfortunately, these issues can’t be fixed by performing a factory reset, but hopefully, an update comes in the future that’ll address them.
Meanwhile, we might wait until August before a fix could arrive, given that Xiaomi is now giving attention to the MIUI 13. The next iteration of Xiaomi MIUI Android skin might debut in August. The update will focus on system improvement and fixing bugs. It was a Xiaomi executive that disclosed it during the MIUI Pioneer Group Q&A session organized in China. And if that time frame is correct, we expect MIUI 13 beta testers registration to commence soon.
Of course, the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max will receive the MIUI 13, but it will first receive the current version – MIUI 12.5. And before MIUI 12.5, you’ll first receive the Android 11 for the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. The update is live in India with a version number – MIUI 12.0.1.0 RJXINXM. It brings the features of the current Android OS while optimizing system performance and reducing lag. Meanwhile, you should back up your data before upgrading to perform a factory reset if necessary.
