Only a few Xiaomi phones have received the June security patch build, and they’re mostly the Android One device. The Redmi 9, although an entry-level phone, is among the few non-Android phones to receive a new security patch update. However, the device isn’t only receiving the June security patch, but the much-anticipated Android 11 build. It’s the European models currently receiving the update a few days after it was released for global users. As usual, the Android 11 update for Redmi 9 in Europe is a limited rollout.

We anticipated the update to arrive alongside MIUI 12.5, but knew it wouldn’t be possible again when the global variant bagged a new OS with stable MIUI 12. Xiaomi is yet to release its new MIUI OS to the entry-level phone, although the Redmi 7 has already bagged the update. Perhaps, few things need to be in place before the update starts seeding. And for that, the company is pushing the Android 11 build, which has now extended to European models.

Android 11 update for Redmi 9 in Europe is seeding with a version number – MIUI 12.0.1.0 RJCEUXM. It brings a stable MIUI based on Android while pushing the Android security patch level to June 2021 to increase system security. There’s an adjustment on that Mi Cloud to automatically report location information before the device is powered off. That’s it for the changes on the log, but expect all features baked inside the Android OS. 

Meanwhile, the Xiaomi Android 11 update has some known bugs. It includes third-party launchers compatibility issues, ugly square chat bubbles, and keyboard overlapping with floating windows. Also, the current update is a cross-section upgrade, and we recommend that you backup your data before upgrading. There might be glitches and lags after upgrading that you can fix with a factory reset. That way, you won’t lose your data after resetting your device.

It’s a security patch build that carries a software version number – MIUI 12.0.2.0 RJCMIXM. While Redmi 9 in other regions are yet to get the Android 11 update, the second build is available in Europe. The update comes with a version number – MIUI 12.0.2.0 RJCEUXM – to bump the Android security patch level to June 2021.
