Xiaomi is one of the first OEMs to start rolling out a stable Android 11 update after the official release. The rollout began about seven months ago, with the Redmi Note 9 series among the first few Xiaomi phones to receive the update. Shortly after the release, there were complaints of bugs, which made Xiaomi slow down the deployment. The company had to find a way and address these issues, which probably prompted the development of MIUI 12.5. That has stabilized MIUI as we haven’t heard of any performance-threatening bug from earlier adopters. Also, it seems Xiaomi has also addressed the bugs encountered by early Android 11 adopters as they start rolling out a stable Android 11 update for the Redmi Note 9S in Europe.
The current Android 11 update for the Redmi Note 9S in Europe is the first cross-section Android upgrade for the phones in that region. It’s a limited rollout, and it is currently available for select users that’ll test the build for bugs. Hence, you should back up your data before downloading and installing the update should a factory reset becomes necessary after the upgrade.
Meanwhile, the update is hitting eligible users with a version number – MIUI 12.0.2.0 RJWEUXM. It comes with a stable MIUI based on Android 11 and sans the much-anticipated MIUI 12.5, meaning the update will arrive with a separate build. The update also bumps the Android security patch level to May 2021 to increase system security and stability, while location information can be reported automatically before the device is powered off.
It’s unclear when the update will be available in other regions, but you can keep an eye on our tracker page for updates. And if you’re running the stable European ROM, you can use the link below to download the recovery ROM. Using TWRP Recovery or an authorized Mi Beta account, you can flash the ROM successfully.

Hi everyone. My Redmi Note 9S global doesn’t update neither to MIUI 12.5 nor to Android 11. It is widely said the these updates are available since some time ago. Instead, I think that my Xiaomi is being offered a downgrade via OTA because it already has MIUI 12.0.4.0 (QJWEUXM) and it wants to update to MIUI 12.0.2.0 (RJWEUXM). Why is that happening? I don’t understand!
What do you suggest me to do? I appreciate your time and your patience; thanks in advance.
MIUI 12.0.4.0 QJWEUXM and MIUI 12.0.2.0 RJWEUXM are two different builds. The former is based on Android 10 while the latter is based on Android 11. Go ahead and download the RJWEUXM build.
