Google officially released the first Android 12 beta to its pixel phones, with Xiaomi also releasing the update for its flagship lineups. The latest Android 12 beta 1 revamped the entire system and is based on “a new way to think about design.” It’s called Material You. The design is about personalization with dynamic themes based on your wallpaper.
There has been a reduction in CPU time needed for core system operation by 22% and a 15% reduction in usage of big cores by the system. In turn, animation has improved, and interaction with the system gives a sense of fluidity.
Google has redesigned the notification shade, which now looks like that of MIUI. It has been designed to be more intuitive and playful to give a clear view of your notification. The number of quick settings is now reduced to four for the first swipe, and it now has texts next to them.
Another MIUI feature – long-press on the power button to trigger voice assistant. The Android 12 beta 1 brings improved security with a new privacy dashboard in settings that allow you to manage individual apps. Interestingly, you can change your app’s permission from the dashboard.
All these features and more is available for Xiaomi phones with the Android 12 beta 1 update. Unfortunately, only Xiaomi flagship phones can install the build. However, it won’t be easy, and it requires an unlocked bootloader because you’ll flash the ROM via Fastboot.
