One can put two and two together to estimate the number of smartphones in the tech space that have received the Android 13 update. On doing this, you will discover that the Android 13 has a fast rollout period. Well, the Android 13 rollout statistics are now available and this confirmed earlier speculations from different sources.

Details of the Android 13 rollout statistics

As regards updating rollout statistics of Android OS upgrades, Google had always informed developers of what devices will be getting which Android OS before its launch. However, there has been an irregular occurrence in the whole setting which can be relegated to Android Studio. The last update on the statistics was sometime in August but that didn’t include the Android 13 rollout statistics since it had not debuted then.

Sources saw the first update to the distribution charts and it showed which devices got the Android 13 update. According to Android Studio, the Android 13 update hit 5.2 percent of devices – which is a good number bearing in mind that it’s less than six months of launch.

As of September, Android 12 and 12L have a combined usage share of 18.9%, which represents a significant increase from the 13.5% usage share they had in August. Google’s chart also mentions Android 13, but it doesn’t differentiate between Android 12 and 12L. Usage of older versions of Android, such as Oreo, has decreased and is now below 10%. Similarly, usage of Jelly Bean has dropped to 0%, and usage of KitKat has decreased from 0.9% to 0.7%.

The good number of Android 13 rollouts can be traced back to Android OEMs who do not relent in making this software available for their smartphones – Samsung especially, with the brand promising to be faster in the season of Android 14.

In the past, when Google shared data on its official website, it was reported to be based on the number of Android devices that accessed the Google Play Store during one week. The data is now available on Android Studio, but it is assumed that the numbers are still based on the same metric.
