Google is already planning on the Android 14 stable release, with Android 14 beta 5 arriving days ago. Xiaomi is also working to release the stable build as soon as it becomes available to eligible users. The company has taken a big step towards that as it releases the Android 14-based MIUI 14 stable beta build.

It’s the first time we are seeing the Android 14-based MIUI 14 build arrive via OTA. The company has always provided fastboot ROMs for those that wish to test the upcoming Android OS. With the latest development, Xiaomi might have just concluded major parts of the beta tests.

That seems like it, as the latest release is based on Android 14 beta 5. Google reached platform stability a couple of months ago, and with Beta 5, the company concluded its scheduled update in the Android 14 beta program. The next step is releasing the stable build, and it makes sense to see the Android 14-based MIUI 14 update arriving via OTA.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi has limited the release to its flagship Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro. The duo are receiving the update with version numbers MIUI 14.0.0.4 UMCCNXM and MIUI 14.0.0.4 UMBCNXM, respectively. It’s a 6.1GB package. According to the changelog, it optimized system performance and improved system security and stability. 

There’s a warning: “This update is an Android cross-version upgrade. In order to reduce the upgrade risk, it is recommended to back up personal data in advance. The loading time of this update is relatively long, and performance and power consumption problems such as overheat and sim card read errors may occur in a short time after startup, please wait patiently. Some third-party applications will affect normal use due to their lack of version adaptation. Please upgrade carefully.”

Ahead of the stable release, a new Android 14-based MIUI 14 update is now rolling out. The update is exclusive to Chinese versions of Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro. It has version numbers MIUI 14.0.0.18 UMCCNXM and MIUI 14.0.0.18 UMBCNXM, respectively.
