Further details on the Android 14 custom lock screen clock

According to Mishaal Rahman, an Android researcher and tech writer, the upcoming Android 14 Beta 3 release is expected to introduce various clock customization options for the lock screen. Users will be able to configure the Android 14 custom lock screen clock to display the time in different colors, and the clock size can be toggled between Dynamic (where the size adjusts based on the lock screen content) and Small.

Rahman also mentioned that new APIs will be available in Android 14 that will allow apps to provide information about the status of the device’s battery. Users will have access to data such as the manufacturing date of the battery, the date it was first used, the cycle count, and the overall health of the battery. It’s worth noting that Rahman discovered this capability in an Android 13 QPR Beta, but it has not yet appeared in the Android 14 beta versions.

Although the platform stability of the upcoming Android 14 Beta release doesn’t guarantee a bug-free experience, it signifies that the focus will be on refining the code for the next Android version.

It’s important to keep in mind that if you choose to participate in the Android 14 Beta program with the next release, you will be required to remain in the program until the stable and final version of Android 14 is released in August. Exiting the program early would require a factory reset, so it’s advisable to back up all your data before participating in any Beta program.
