Android 14 QPR3 Beta 2 update is now available for download

Google has started rolling out the Android 14 QPR3 Beta 2 update ahead of the stable release in June. The latest Feature Drop arrived a few days ago, while the Android 15 Developer Preview is also live. It has not stopped the company from testing the new Feature Drop update, with the Beta 2 now available.

Quarterly Platform Releases are different from monthly security patches as they bring new features and sometimes UI revamps. That is the case of the March Feature Drop, which brought some Pixel 8 exclusive features to older models. Meanwhile, Android 14 QPR3 Beta 2 is not stable, but more stable than Developer Previews. According to Google, “QPR Betas are suitable for general use,” and you might proceed with installing the latest release.

Meanwhile, recent reports suggest that side-loading the Android 14 QPR3 Beta update will brick your device. According to 9to5Google, side-loading from your computer proceeds normally, but when you restart the device, it will get stuck on the Google Logo. Interestingly, installing from Settings>>Software updates>>System update does not brick your device.

The update is rolling out with a build number AP21.240216.01.0 and brings the March 2024 security patch. It is available for all eligible users from Pixel 5a, including the Pixel Tablet and Pixel Fold. If you encounter any issues after upgrading, use the Android Beta Feedback app or the Android Beta community on Reddit to file your bug report.
