Google was supposed to release the Android 14 stable update with a September 2023 security patch to Pixel phones last month. Of course, that didn’t happen, and it looks like it will now arrive with the October 2023 patch. It confirms previous reports that the Android 14 stable update will start seeding on the day of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro launch.
It’s almost a month since Google released the Android 14 Beta 5.3 update. The build targeted bugs, perhaps, delayed the release of the stable version. We have seen the release of the Android 14 QPR1 beta update, suggesting a minor setback to the Android 14 stable update release. However, Google seems to have resolved all these issues and will now release the update alongside the October 2023 security patch to Pixel update on October 4
According to a Canadian Carrier, Telus, “Android U” (Android 14) has an “Approx date” of Arrival as October 4. Yes, the same date as the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro unveiling. It confirms previous reports that the update will start seeding on the said date.
Devices listed by the Carrier to receive stable Android 14 updates include Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 5, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, and Pixel 7a. Of course, the Pixel 4a isn’t eligible for stable Android 14, as it didn’t participate in the beta tests. Perhaps, why Telus says, “All dates are approximate and subject to change,” and to “Please note posted dates reflect when the update is targeted for release but can take a few weeks to roll out to all devices.”
We expect the Android 14 stable update to start seeding on October 4 with the October 2023 security patch. Of course, Pixel Tablet and Pixel Fold to get the update once it starts rolling out.
