Android 15 allows games to run above the default frame rate

Google recently released the Android 15 Developer Preview 2. Since the release, developers have been scanning the build for new features Google will probably bring to Android OS soon.

Android 15 allows games to run above the default frame rate

Developers have discovered new features, with the latest, a toggle to “disable default frame rate for games.” Running a game at a higher frame usually results in a smoother, more realistic, and more immersive performance.

Android limits games to 60fps, and developers need to enable higher frame rates for individual devices. With the new toggle to disable the default frame rate, users can run their games at a higher frame rate.

The new toggle is exclusive to developers, those who installed the Android 15 Developer Preview 2. It is found under the developer option, which you can enable by tapping your device software build number until you see “You are now a developer.”

Google has limited this feature to developers, but we hope for more people to get it when the Android 15 beta update rolls out next month. You can follow our social media platforms to know when the update becomes available.
