The latest Android Auto 8.7 stable is now available on the stable channel, meaning you can get the update directly from the Play store. It has a version number V8.7.630 and weighs about 36MB. Although the changelog says;

  • Improved Do Not Disturb functionality
  • Dark mode on car UI is now independent of the phone
  • Bug fixes and other improvements,

…the update has introduced some new features and improvements.

With the Android Auto 8.7 beta, Google planned to bring Digital Car Key sharing to more phones, and we expect the latest release to enable the feature on Samsung and Xiaomi phones. Of course, Google Pixel and iPhone users have been enjoying the function for some time now.

Also, Google Maps has been adjusted to the driver’s side while more users have the Coolwalk feature enabled. Interestingly, it seems the latest update has enabled making and receiving calls using WhatsApp on Pixel and Samsung phones. You can learn about other features enabled with the new update here.

Google has limited Android Auto to Android 8+ phones. If your device meets those criteria, you can head over to the Play Store and download it. Also, you can download it via Telegram or APK Mirror
