Android Pie update on POCO F1 has started arriving

The first Xiaomi sub-brand unveiled its first smartphone, POCO F1 sometime in August running Android OS 8.1 Oreo. Some few days ago, the chief product officer, Jai Mani, confirmed the device would be getting the Android Pie. He confirmed by saying “ we’ll do at least P and Q” though no particular time frame was given.

However, is like developers are already working on the Android Pie update after a POCO F1 device was spotted running Android 9. The update is still in Beta version, which means is the closed beta group that has been receiving the Android Pie update.

The update from the look of things won’t be arriving this week because instead of MIUI Global 8.10.30 that comes with the update, the device is receiving the 8.10.11 update.

But since the Beta version of the update has started rolling out, it won’t be much longer before the stable version becomes available. And given how MIUI updates are dispatched, it might be till mid-November before the update starts rolling.

Poco F1 debuted with 6.18-inch Full view display back in August. It’s powered by Snapdragon 845 SoC paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal. The camera has a dual arrangement at the back and a single front-facing camera.

The device measures 155.5 x 75.2 x 8.8mm and packed inside is a 4000mAh battery that charges with USB-C port while supporting fast charging technology. Available in colors of Steel Blue, Graphite Black, and Rosso Red, you can order the device from here.

The Rosso Red version of POCO F1 was lanuch specifically for the Indian market and has since went on sale exclusively at Flipkart and MI.com

Meanwhile, if you can flash a new ROM via recovery on Xiaomi device, then click here to download the Android Pie update on zip format.
