WWDC2 was the dawn of some sleek software from Apple. We’re talking of the iOS 16, iPadOS 16, and MacOS Ventura among others. Well, the iOS 16 is bringing in a lot of features like the customizable Lock Screen, and macOS Ventura UI is getting smoother- somewhat like the iPad’s- among other feats in the mentioned software. Meanwhile, after the brand let loose the iOS 16, it was working on the Apple iOS 16.1 Beta 1, and it’s finally here.
Hidden in iOS 16.1 is the Freeform app (an app resembling Canva in a way, used to represent your ideas brilliantly) which is expected to go live once the software is public. The Apple iOS 16.1 beta 1 doesn’t have it though, however, there are still some features you should be aware of.
Features of the Apple iOS 16.1 beta 1
One of the interesting features of the Apple iOS 16.1 beta 1 is the Live Activities. It shows notifications for live events going on in different apps on your iPhone just like the Android OS. There is support for animations as well that helps you refresh to get new events on the go. Speaking of things you’re getting on the go, you can quickly switch your Home wallpaper without having to go through that of the Lock Screen.
Then we have sections for accessories that get support for the Matter smart Home standard and the Clean Energy Charging hidden within the Apple iOS 16.1 beta 1. Apple says the latter feature “aims to reduce your carbon footprint by selectively charging when lower carbon emission electricity is available”.
The appearance of the battery percentage on the status bar reported earlier will be coming in via this software as well. iPhones with Face ID can now enjoy this feature. Then there’s the Wallet app, which is tweaked in a way to delete it if it’s not needed. Finally, we have the Music app tweak which “includes an icon of the connected audio accessory on the Now playing screen”.
So there you have it, the features the Apple iOS 16.1 beta 1 is bringing to the table.
