The brand has started pushing iOS 16.1 beta 2 updates and it should bring in better stability in addition to the features from iOS 16.1 beta 1. Apple iOS 16.1 beta kickstarted sometime last week bringing in some interesting features. However, there might be some issues of instability which, usually that’s why we have beta programs – to test features and provide feedback.
iOS 16.1 beta 2 update features
We have some new features added to the software via the iOS 16.1 beta 2 update. First up, there’s the Game Center Splash screen – you can “see all your friends’ play activity and achievements on the redesigned dashboard and player profiles and also find your game centre friends’ profile and activity in Contacts”.
Adding to these is the Lock Screen tweak where the lock screen can show the battery percentage again when you plug your iPhone. Furthermore, the iOS 16.1 beta 2 update tweaks the status bar to reflect the same amount of battery regardless of which percent your iPhone is – but it must be above 20. These are the two features sources uncovered to be in the iOS 16.1 beta 2 update, however, once more pop up, we’ll keep you posted.
Meanwhile, it’s safe to predict that the iOS 16.1 beta 2 update brings more stability to the features in the previous beta. Which features? Live Activities – being one of them – shows notifications for live events going on in different apps on your iPhone just like the Android OS. There is support for animations as well that helps you refresh to get new events on the go. Speaking of things you’re getting on the go, you can quickly switch your Home wallpaper without having to go through that of the Lock Screen.
Then we have sections for accessories that get support for the Matter smart Home standard and the Clean Energy Charging hidden within the Apple iOS 16.1 beta 1. Apple says the latter feature “aims to reduce your carbon footprint by selectively charging when lower carbon emission electricity is available”.
The appearance of the battery percentage on the status bar reported earlier will be coming in via this software as well. iPhones with Face ID can now enjoy this feature. Then there’s the Wallet app, which is tweaked in a way to delete it if it’s not needed. Finally, we have the Music app tweak which “includes an icon of the connected audio accessory on the Now playing screen”. More tweaks to come, as Apple is just getting started.
