The Mi A3 remains the latest offering by Xiaomi to run the Stock version of Android, having been released under the Android One program. And as such, under the Android One guidelines, it’s expected to receive two OS updates, and at least, three years of security patch support.
Early this year, the device received its first OS upgrade and has continued to get timely security patch updates. It’s currently receiving the August Android security patch, which started arriving a couple of hours ago, aimed at bug fixes and system optimization.
The update has a version number, V11.0.20.0 QFQMIXM, and weighs in at 33.55MB. According to the version number, it’s for the global units of the Mi A3 and said to improve security as well as fix bugs. However, the feedback we have received so far shows the latest build didn’t fix any of the underlying bugs. It’s only the security patch level that bumps to August.
Nevertheless, it didn’t seem to have introduced any new bugs, and hence, you should go ahead and improve your device security once you get a prompt notification about the August Android security patch for Mi A3. Perhaps, you can manually download the recovery ROM and flash using TWRP, check the download link below.
As for the reports from last week claiming the Xiaomi Android One program has been suspended, it remains speculation. The company hasn’t released an official statement in that regard, so until they do, that’s when we can confirm the report to be true.
