Apple Watches are renowned for their various features and perks, ranging from fitness tracking to Siri’s voice assistant capabilities. However, some of these features are often underrated and not widely known to the general public, such as the ability to automate watchOS 9 to switch between watch faces based on your current geolocation.

Automatically Switch Between Apple Watch Faces Based on Your Location

This feature allows you to assign specific faces for the various places you visit, ensuring that your Apple Watch always displays the most relevant information based on your current location. For instance, you can have a face with your calendar appointments show up when you’re at work, and a fitness-focused face show up when you’re at the gym.

If you’re unsure how to set up this feature, don’t worry. The process is relatively straightforward, and all you need is your iPhone and your Apple Watch. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to automatically switch between Apple Watch faces based on your location.

Basic Steps To Automatically Switch Between Apple Watch Faces Based on Your Location

Step #1: Launch the Shortcuts app on your iPhone

The Shortcuts app is an essential tool that allows you to create custom automations and shortcuts for your iPhone and Apple Watch. You can find it on your iPhone’s home screen or by searching for it in the App Store.

Step #2: Tap on the plus (+) towards the top right corner of the Automation tab

Once you’ve launched the Shortcuts app, tap on the Automation tab at the bottom of the screen. Then, tap on the plus (+) icon towards the top right corner of the screen to create a new automation.

Step #3: Click on Create Personal Automation

Next, you’ll see a list of automation options. Scroll down and select “Create Personal Automation.”

Step #4: Choose “Arrive”

In the “New Automation” screen, choose “Arrive” as the trigger for your automation. This means that your Apple Watch will switch faces when you arrive at a specific location.

Step #5: Tap on “Choose” to pick the desired location

Now you need to select the location you want to use as the trigger for your automation. Tap on “Choose,” and your iPhone will display a map with your current location. You can either search for a specific location or use the map to select the desired location.

Step #6: Click the “Done” button, followed by “Next”

Once you’ve selected the location, click the “Done” button towards the top right corner of the screen. Then, tap on “Next” to move on to the next step.

Step #7: Tap on “Search for apps and actions”

In the next screen, you’ll see a list of actions you can add to your automation. Tap on “Search for apps and actions” towards the bottom of the screen.

Step #8: Type “Set Watch Face” and tap on the first result

In the search bar, type “Set Watch Face” and tap on the first result that appears. This action will allow you to select the watch face you want to use when you arrive at the chosen location.

Step #9: Tap on the grayed-out “Face” button

Once you’ve selected the “Set Watch Face” action, you’ll see a screen with various options. Tap on the grayed-out “Face” button to choose the watch face you want to use when you arrive at the assigned location.

Step #10: Select which watch face you want

In the “Set Watch Face” screen, you get to choose the watch face you want to use when you arrive at the assigned location. You can select any watch face you’ve already created on your Apple Watch. Once you’ve selected the desired watch face, tap on “Next,” followed by “Done” to complete the process.

Final Words

There you have it! Once you have completed the steps to set up the automation, your Apple Watch will automatically switch to the selected face whenever you arrive at the designated location. So if you haven’t already, give it a try and see how much more convenient and efficient your Apple Watch experience can be!
