The reason smartphone companies organize a beta test before a major OS release is to allow a few people to preview the build. They spot and report any bugs developers might have mixed to have them fixed before a general release. Sometimes, these issues are not detected and released with the final build, which is the case with the Galaxy S22 since the One UI 6.1 update.
Details of the Galaxy S22 bootloop and freezing issues
Since the release of the One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy S22 series, there have been constant reports about the device freezing or being stuck in bootloop. In addition, random restarts during the day have been reported. Meanwhile, the September 2024 security patch update seems the culprit this time.
Samsung addressed the initial complaint after they halted the One UI 6.1 release and restarted it after the reported bugs were resolved. It looks like they have to do that again, given that a new update has reintroduced some of these issues, making the device unusable.
Samsung users have taken to Reddit and the Community forum to complain about this issue. We understand some people have already contacted the authorized Samsung service center, which claims the problem is due to a faulty/fried motherboard.
It seems most Galaxy S22 users are out of warranty, which is the reason service centers are asking them to pay before their device gets fixed. However, the issue is probably caused by a software update, and the company should take responsibility. We expect Samsung to fix affected phones for free like they offer free screen replacement for the green line issue.
