We are still waiting for the Android 14 stable update release, while the Android 14 QPR1 beta is already available for Pixel phones. And like during Android 14 betas, Google has introduced a new feature with the latest release, making it easy to check battery health on Android phones.
Checking your battery health on Android phones can be frustrating, as there are no simple ways to do it. You’re required to download third-party apps to know your battery health or charge cycle. Most times information shown by these apps is not accurate, and with the new “Battery Information” under Settings on Pixel phones, it will be easy to know your battery health.
Unfortunately, Google didn’t add the “battery health “or “maximum capacity” like on the iPhones. It only shows the manufacture date and cycle count, which is obviously a good start. With the cycle count, you can say if the battery needs replacing, with over 400 charging cycles deemed “getting bad.”
Unfortunately, it is unclear whether other OEMs will introduce this feature, with the likes of Xiaomi already having a way to check the battery health of their phones. Also, we don’t know if Google will expand the info that appears under the “battery information” in the coming weeks/month.
How to check battery health on Android with Android QPR1
Meanwhile, the new addition is exclusive to Android 14 QPR1. To enable it, head to Settings>>About Phone>>Battery Information. Hopefully, it will come to everyone with the stable Android 14 release in the coming weeks.
