What we know of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra camera sensors

According to a tweet by Ice Universe, a renowned leaker, the next year’s Galaxy S24 Ultra model is rumored to feature an impressive camera setup. The highlight of the camera array will be Samsung’s own 200MP HP2 sensor, which is expected to deliver exceptional image quality. Contrary to previous speculation, it appears that the Galaxy S24 Ultra will not include one of the two 10MP telephoto cameras.

Instead, Samsung will continue to utilize the 12MP Sony IMX754 sensor, albeit with a 10MP reduction, for the telephoto camera with a 3x optical zoom. The second telephoto camera, offering a 10x optical zoom, will feature the Sony IMX754+ sensor, also with a 10MP reduction.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra, on the other hand, utilizes the IMX754 sensors for its two telephoto cameras. Additionally, the 12MP Sony IMX564 sensor, which provides excellent performance for the ultra-wide camera, is expected to make a return in the Galaxy S24 Ultra camera setup.

It’s worth noting that while the camera sensors appear to be slightly tweaked, Samsung may focus on improving image processing and computational photography to enhance the overall photographic capabilities of the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

In terms of processing power, while the Galaxy S23 Ultra is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 application processor globally, the Galaxy S24 Ultra might feature two alternative chipsets depending on the specific region it is released in – probably the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Exynos 2400.

These Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra camera and processor upgrades, if they materialize, could offer users a significant improvement in photography and overall performance, making the Galaxy S24 Ultra an enticing flagship device in the year to come.
