Google has been testing the Undo and Redo buttons on Gboard since January, and they are now rolling out to Android users. However, you need to enable the feature before you can use it while typing.
The Undo button is the main addition, but using it automatically reveals the Redo button, as both functions work together. When enabling the feature, don’t look for a separate Redo button—it will appear when needed.
Enabling the Undo and Redo Buttons on Gboard

When you open the Gboard keyboard, the top row contains your shortcuts. You can add the Undo button there for quick access while typing.

Steps to Enable:
- Tap the Shortcut menu (four square blocks at the left end of the top row).
- Locate the Undo button and drag it to the top row (your shortcut bar).
- To use the Undo button, tap the shortcut menu.
- The Redo button will appear automatically when an action is undone.
- You have a few seconds to use it before it becomes grayed out.
The Undo function remains available as long as you stay in the same application. However, if you completely exit an app, the Undo history is lost.
This feature is available in Gboard version 15.0. If you own a Pixel phone running the latest March Feature Drop, you already have the latest version and can enable the Info button without updating the app.
