First Redmi Note 8 Android 11 beta build released

Not everyone believed it when the news first broke of Redmi Note 8 getting the Android 11 update. Many couldn’t just see Xiaomi releasing the update considering how long it took them to deliver the assured Android 10 upgrade. Also, some Redmi Note 8 users, at that time, were waiting for the Android 10 update, which arrived for most of them for the first time yesterday. The update arrived as MIUI 12.0.3.0 QCOMIXM, and you can check it out here. 

However, the Redmi Note 8 Android 11 update, is with no doubt happening as the company starts pushing the update to closed beta testers. When Xiaomi announced MIUI 12.5 and released eligible phones to get the beta build, it excluded the Redmi Note 8. The reason being that the device was testing Android 11 internally and would receive its first MIUI 12.5 closed beta build, alongside a new Android OS. Well, that was quick as those with successful beta applications are now getting their first Redmi Note 8 Android 11 update. 

The update is arriving with MIUI 12.5 closed beta V12.1.5, and the full recovery ROM weighs in at about 2.6GB. You’ll receive the update via OTA if you’re in the closed beta group, or make use of the link below and download the update. Unfortunately, it won’t work, and besides, it’s a Chinese ROM. To successfully flash the Redmi Note 8 Android 11 update, you need TWRP Recovery installed. It also needs to support the Android 11 upgrade, or it will return an error. 

As per when the update will start seeding for stable ROM users, there’s currently no ETA. We also don’t expect to get any, but a good guess should be Q2 of the year. And just like the Android 10 update arrived alongside MIUI 12, the Redmi Note 8 Android 11 update will also arrive with MIUI 12.5, and now, we wait.
