Update: the boot loop issue has been fixed and you can now download the recovery ROM below

The latest Xiaomi phone to get the Android 11 build is the Redmi Note 8 Pro. For some weeks now, the build has been on internal testing, alongside that of Redmi Note 8, which started rolling out a couple of days ago. We knew it’s only a matter of time before it’ll arrive for the Note 8 Pro. And according to recent reports, the first Android 11 build for Redmi Note 8 Pro is now available. It’s currently limited to those on the closed beta group and should be available for stable ROM users after some weeks.

It came as a surprise for everyone when the news first broke that Redmi Note 8 Pro will be receiving the Android 11 update. Not everyone believed that giving that until recently, it’s been one OS upgrade for Xiaomi mid-range phones. It seems the company is changing that for its best-selling duo of last year by giving it two Android OS upgrades. However, it’s unclear when the stable version will be available, but at least there’s no doubt about the Android 11 update for the Redmi Note 8 Pro now.

Those participating in the MIUI 12.5 closed beta test will receive the build via OTA. It’s also available on the link below if the OTA hasn’t come. The package has a version number MIUI 12.5 21.1.11, and the full recovery ROM weighs in at 2.29GB. It’s also possible to side-load on Global ROM, but with a compatible TWRP Recovery. However, the ROM is a Chinese beta build and will probably have bugs. It’s also not recommended as a daily driver and lacks Google Play services.
