Xiaomi has now rolled out the MIUI 12.5 closed beta build to all the eligible devices except the Redmi Note 9 4G. After the official presentation of the latest MIUI Android skin, which was followed by a list of eligible phones to participate in the closed beta test. A few devices were confirmed to receive the update later due to a major Android upgrade. Among the phones is the Redmi Note 9 4G/Redmi 9 Power/Redmi 9T, which is now receiving its first Android 11 build alongside MIUI 12.
The update will arrive via OTA to all closed beta group members with a version number – MIUI 12. 21.21. The build is based on MIUI 12, but that was expected as the device started testing Android 11 before the latest MIUI skin was announced. However, it won’t be long till we see the first Redmi Note 9 4G Android 11 build based on MIUI 12.5.
What does Redmi Note 9 4G Android 11 build mean for Redmi 9 Power and Redmi 9T users?
For starters, all three phones are the same but for different regions. Redmi Note 9 4G is for the Chinese market, Redmi 9 Power – Indian, and Redmi 9T – Global market. They run the Snapdragon 662 SoC, the same design and development. Hence, since the first Redmi Note 9 4G Android 11 build has gone live, it means the other two will soon start receiving a new OS upgrade as well.
Unfortunately, we don’t know when Xiaomi plans to release the update, but it looks to arrive with the MIUI 12.5 update. We are expected to see the stable version in April, and maybe that when we’ll see the update start rolling out for the global users.
Nevertheless, you can side-load the ROM on your Redmi 9 Power (India) and Redmi 9T (Global) with a compatible TWRP Recovery. You can download the ROM from here but makes sure you backup before attempting the installation.
