Again, Qualcomm upgrades it’s 600-series SoC with the newest member a Snapdragon 662 Processor. The Chip was announced along with Snapdragon 720G and SD 460, which are all targeted to the 4G market. Meanwhile, the SD 662 is on the 11nm process, which brings lots of improvement to the mid-range segment.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 makes use of Kryo 260 Octa-Core core with a frequency of up 2GHz for the power cores. And thanks to the improved Adreno 610 GPU, gaming on the mid-range device will improve with enhanced graphics rendering.

The SoC supports the Spectra 340T ISP, which supports up to triple cameras and HIEF image capturing. It also supports live image capturing up to 1080p @60fps. Snapdragon 662 phones will feature AI-based night photography, face and voice ID, and use of avatars. These will be possible with the 3rd generation AI engine with Hexagon Vector extension (HVX).

For fast internet connectivity, SD 662 makes use of the Qualcomm X11 LTE modem with 2-CA, 2×2 MIMO, 256-QAM. Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 phones will get up to 390Mbps download speed and 150Mbps on uploads. Other features of the Snapdragon 662 Soc include Dual VoLTE; Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, and Quick Charge 3.0.

The Moto G9 is the first device to feature in our list of snapdragon 662 devices, with impressive specs. It has a 6.5-inch HD screen with a notch for the 8MP selfie snapper. Around the back is a triple camera arrangement of a primary 48MP sensor, 2MP depth sensor, and 2MP macro shooter.

Under the hood is Snapdragon 662 Soc paired with up to 4GB RAM and 64GB expandable internal memory. It draws power from a beefy 5000mAH battery and supports 20W quick charging. Other features include a 3.5mm headphone jack, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and USB-C port.

MOTO G9 PLAY

The Moto G9 Play is the global version of the Moto G9, which is exclusively for the Indian customers. Both phones share a similar design, but you get the opportunity to choose from three colors (Sapphire Blue, Forest Green, and Spring Pink) if you opt for the G9 Play.

Of course, it features the Snapdragon 662 SoC, paired with up to 4GB RAM. The internal memory is capped at 64GB, but with an option for expansion using MicroSD cards. As for the camera, they’re the same with the G9, while G9 Play features LTEPP and SUPL GPS.

The display, however, features an underwhelming 720 x 1600px resolution on a 6.5-inch HD panel. That’s poor when you can get the Redmi Note 9 with a better display performance and more for below the €170 asking price.

REALME 7i

Realme 7i joins the Motorola duo on our list of Snapdragon 662 phones. The device focuses on camera and performance, leaving the display with some underwhelming features. However, it did support a 90Hz refresh rate but on a 720p resolution. There’s a Corning Gorilla Glass protection, not entirely bad for a $200 phone.

For optics, the device makes use of quad arrangement. It consists of a primary 64MP shooter, 8MP ultrawide angle-lens, 2MP depth sensor, and 2MP macro snapper, while the front camera is a 16MP module. The SD 662 SoC is paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB expandable internal memory.

Realme 7i draws power from a beefy 5000mAh battery. It supports 18W fast charging via USB-C port. The device is offered in Aurora Green and Polar Blue.

POCO M3

POCO M3 is the latest offering from the Xiaomi sub-brand and also the first from the brand to run a Snapdragon 662 SoC. It comes with a massive 6000mAh battery, which delivers up to 36 hours of gaming and can be used to charge other gadgets.

On the front panel is a 6.53-inch panel sitting a Gorilla Glass 5. It has a waterdrop notch for the 8MP selfie snapper, while at the back is a primary 48MP sensor and two additional sensors: 2MP depth and 2MP macro shooters. Outside-of-the-box, you get Android 10 based on MIUI 12, but with the POCO launcher on top. Other features include IR Blaster, Stereo speakers, 3.5mm headphone jack.
