Xiaomi will officially introduce the next iteration of its in-house Android skin – MIUI 12.5 on December 28, in an event, which will also see the unveiling of the Mi 11 series. We expect to learn about the update details, especially the beta testers recruitment and distribution of the update, but we might have an insight going by the latest report.
According to the Xiaomiui Turkey branch, the first stable MIUI 12.5 update is likely to start seeding in February 2021. That’s roughly two months from the official launch date, and if that’s true, then it will be the Chinese ROM rollout. Of course, the Chinese ROM users will start receiving the update first, just like every other major Xiaomi update.
However, before the stable version, there’s expected to be a closed beta test as always. The company is yet to communicate its plans for recruitment, but we hope to find that on the launch day. But according to reports, the closed beta tests are currently suspended and are likely to restart in the early weeks of January.
The Closed beta testers will receive the MIUI 12.5 on the restart before it arrives for weekly beta testers. After the update must have reached the closed and weekly beta users, the next phase will see Xiaomi start pushing the first stable MIUI 12.5 update to Chinese stable ROM users before it arrives for global users.
From the potential MIUI 12.5 roadmap, we could wait for months before seeing the update hit stable ROM users. However, that has been how it’s done, and we don’t think anything is going to change. For those who would like to be among the first few people to receive the update, you should stay in touch to know when the company starts recruiting beta testers.
While waiting for the official unveiling, which is on December 28, check the supposed list of Xiaomi phones to receive the MIUI 12.5 update. Also, some features that’ll be coming with the new MIUI Custom ROM.
