As expected, Samsung has officially confirmed its plans to bring the Galaxy AI features to older phones. Announced and debuted alongside the Galaxy S24 series, these features will arrive on the Galaxy S23 series and other eligible units with One UI 6.1. The much-anticipated upgrade will start rolling out to users next month.

Galaxy AI features

Samsung was always going to release some of the Galaxy AI features to older phones since these features are part of One UI 6.1. The company has announced when the update will start rolling out alongside the devices that will get the update initially. Of course, the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, and Galaxy S24 Ultra will get the update. Below is the complete list of phones to receive Galaxy AI features with One UI 6.1.

Phones to receive Galaxy AI features with One UI 6.1 update

  • Galaxy S23
  • Galaxy S23 Plus
  • Galaxy S23 Ultra
  • Galaxy S23 FE
  • Galaxy Z Flip 5
  • Galaxy Z Fold 5
  • Galaxy Tab S9
  • Galaxy Tab S9 Plus
  • Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra

We expect these phones to receive the update with the first wave of the rollout. Samsung will probably announce other phones that will get the upgrade and the timeframe in the coming days.

These phones will get features like Chat Assist. It adjusts message tone and can translate your messages into 14 different languages. Live Translate, as the name suggests, translates calls and works on messaging apps like WhatsApp. Interpreter mode allows users to converse with people who speak a different language. It opens in split-screen mode on supported phones like Foldable and Tablets. It transcribes words spoken by the Galaxy users and to any chosen language. The translated text is converted to voice so the other person can hear it in their language.

Other features coming to Galaxy phones with One UI 6.1 are Circle to Search, Browsing Assistant, and Transcript Assistant features. The camera app will support Generative Edits, which packs some interesting editing capabilities.

Samsung expects the update to start rolling out to eligible units next month, but you can always check for it via Settings>>Software update>>Download and Install. You can follow our social media platforms to know when the update becomes available in your region.
