[Live in Malaysia] Samsung Galaxy S22 May 2022 security patch update is now available

Google will start rolling out the May 2022 security patch build to Pixel phones next Monday, but Samsung has just released the update to its latest premium devices – the S22 series. Once again, the South Korean giant is the first to start seeding the latest patch build, which is currently available in India.

The Galaxy S22 May 2022 security patch update is currently available for the Indian Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 variants, with a software firmware number S90xEXXS2AVDD and weighs 616MB. It’s unclear the security and privacy vulnerabilities patched by the current build, given that Google is yet to release the May security patch bulletin. However, the update brings device stability improvements, bug fixes, and further performance improvements. The changelog also mentions new features, but none has been reported yet.

At the time of writing, Samsung has limited the rollout to the Galaxy 22, S22 Plus, and S22 Ultra in India, although we expect the rollout in other regions in the coming days. Meanwhile those using the device in India can download the update via the settings app.

It’s not surprising that Samsung is rolling out the May 2022 security patch update before Google. That has been the situation for a couple of months now, but Google is expected to release the May patch bulletin on Monday. However, the Galaxy S22 users can head over to Settings>>System Updates>>Download and install and follow the screen instructions to install the April patch.

Update: April 27, 2022

We are still in April but Samsung is already sending out the May 2022 security patch update. The Galaxy S22 series phones are currently getting the update in Malaysia after the Indian release. You can identify the Galaxy S22 May 2022 security patch with a firmware version number S90xEXXS2AVDD. If you are in Malaysia, navigate to settings and upgrade your device to increase security and improve performance.
