The Galaxy S22 series unlocked version gets a massive August security patch update

Samsung has moved ahead of Google in rolling out the latest security patch update. But unlike Google, Samsung keeps releasing the update throughout the month while all Pixel phones get a new update simultaneously. Perhaps, why some Galaxy S22 phones are just getting the August 2023 security patch.

The latest release is hitting the Unlocked Galaxy S22 in the US. It’s a massive update with a package size of 2318.37MB. Surprisingly, the update doesn’t seem to include any new features, as it only pushes the Android security patch level to the latest one. However, there might have been a few additions and bug fixes.

The update is seeding with a software version number S90xU1UEU3CWGI. It’s exclusive to the unlocked Galaxy S22 series in the US. We expect other regions still waiting for the August security patch to start getting the update in the coming days.

The update is currently seeding via OTA. You can navigate to Settings>>Software update>>Download and Install. Your device will take a few seconds to connect to the server before it starts downloading the update, if available. Otherwise, you should check for the update later.
