Samsung Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus users report blurry photos caused by hardware issue
While new smartphones can get a few software glitches immediately after release, it’s quite unfortunate that the Samsung Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus users are facing a hardware issue. Numerous Samsung S23 and S23 Plus users report seeing banana or ring-shaped blurring in photos taken with the phones. Essentially, some of the photographs are hazy and out of focus.
This is particularly obvious in photographs with text, but it does not mean that other images are immune to the problem. If you’re not picky about image quality, you might not notice these flaws, but if you look closely, you’ll realize that certain areas of the photographs are fuzzy and not as crisp as others.
The problem originally surfaced on German tech forums, and the number of complaints is increasing. Posts concerning the issue can be found on Reddit, XDA forums, and Samsung community boards. Notebookcheck reports that their Samsung S23 Plus has the same issue. The photographs also turned out fuzzy in the RAW mode, which enables you to access raw image data straight from the sensor, which led them to believe that this is not a software side fault.
According to SamMobile, they were able to reproduce the issue on their Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus handsets, although only pictures of text and documents were affected. It appears that the majority of the problematic devices were built in Vietnam, which is where the bulk of Samsung phones are manufactured, although some Indian and South Korean models also have the issue.
Possible cause of the Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus users’ image reports
Something appears to be amiss with the lens on the 50 MP main unit. It’s either low quality or slightly slanted. Samsung has yet to respond to the issue, and if it is determined to be a hardware flaw, impacted consumers may be required to replace their camera modules. But, Samsung is rumored to be working on a major camera upgrade for the Galaxy S23 series, so there is some optimism that the issue may be resolved.
