Galaxy S23 starts receiving January 2024 security patch update

Samsung continues to release the latest security patch update to its latest flagship phones first, even before Google. However, while Google releases the update to all phones simultaneously, it takes Samsung weeks or months to complete the rollout. That’s the case with the Galaxy S23 January 2024 security patch, as the Galaxy Z Flip received the update days ago.

The Galaxy S23 January 2024 security patch update is rolling out in different regions. We understand the update starts rolling out in Europe today, while those in India are also getting a new security patch update. It’s available for carrier-locked models in the US.

The update is rolling out with a version number S91xBXXS3BWL3 and weighs about 383MB in Europe. Those in India are getting a 393 MB package with a firmware version S91xBXXS3BWL3, while in the US, the update is rolling out as S91xUSQS2BWL7.

Of course, all three models – Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra, are getting the update. The update addressed about 74 security vulnerabilities ranging from high to critical affecting Android phones. We recommend installing the update when prompted, or you follow the procedure below to force it.
