Galaxy S24 Ultra to feature the highest charging speed on a Samsung phone

Samsung, the Korean tech giant, is preparing to launch the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S24 series, the successor to the successful Galaxy S23 series. With this release, Samsung has set its sights on achieving a significant milestone in smartphone charging technology. Let’s delve into the details.

Galaxy S24 Ultra

The highest Samsung charging speed via Galaxy S24 Ultra

Since Samsung introduced its first phone with 45W wired charging functionality in 2019 (Galaxy Note 10+), the brand has made minimal progress in this area. However, with the implementation of stacked batteries, a technology borrowed from electric vehicles (EVs), Samsung aims to change the game.

According to @RGCloudS, the stacked battery technology will be featured in the upcoming Galaxy S24 Ultra and possibly in the S24+. However, its availability will depend on the supply chain. Currently, Samsung is conducting battery testing using units manufactured at a Chinese factory, as the production equipment at the Cheonan plant is still pending.

One of the key advantages of stacked batteries is faster charging. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is expected to support charging speeds of up to 65W, an upgrade from the 45W capability of the 2023 model. Both the S24 Ultra and S24+ will reportedly have 5,000mAh battery capacities. However, the Ultra variant will incorporate additional cooling technology, allowing it to charge at an even faster rate.

While it may not be feasible to update the smaller Galaxy S24 model due to manufacturing capacity constraints, the stacked battery technology is likely to find its way into future Samsung devices. Once the technology proves successful and supply limitations are addressed, it could potentially be employed in upcoming models such as the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6. Moreover, it is expected that Apple will also adopt stacked batteries in all versions of the iPhone 15.
