Google recently rolled out a new update to its camera app, bumping it to V8.4.600. The latest update, as seen on the changelog, brought new features, bug fixes, and optimizations. However, the latter seems more likely as those features have been there since the V8.4.000. Google perhaps has increased performance and addressed bugs affecting its camera app. It has only been a couple of days since the update was released, and thanks to developers, the latest Gcam 8.4.600 mod is now available.
Google camera app remains exclusive to Google Pixel phones, and the GCam 8.4 seems tied to the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. However, with the latest Gcam 8.4.600 mod, you can download and install the app on your older Pixel phones and other Android phones.
Features of the latest Gcam 8.4.600 mod
With the latest update, the Google camera now has the full support of Material You design. Reputedly, the Material You virtuals will be enabled on the new Gcam 8.4.600 mod, but it doesn’t seem so, at least on some phones running Android 12. We have downloaded and tested the new mod, which stuttered initially but seems more stable now. Also, the image quality isn’t that great, and you would notice maximum noise taking pictures. The blur effect isn’t nice, and you would notice it even after the photo is processed.
Meanwhile, it might be down to the device, but we doubt it, as the older Gcam mod we have tested with the same phone takes better shots. Of course, you can always uninstall if the latest mod doesn’t impress you.
We understand that there have been some changes, which include a maximum resolution for photos and videos. That can be found on the camera settings under ‘camera photo resolution.’

The latest update is installable on Android phones running Android 10 and later. You can install it on your older Pixel phone, but it might stutter initially. However, it should work without lag when you launch the camera app the second time.
