Xiaomi, in the past few days, has been upgrading entry-level phones to MIUI 12.5. A couple of hours ago, the update started seeding for the global Redmi 8 users. Although the rollout is yet to extend to other regions, we anticipated Xiaomi might release the build to the Redmi 8A units. And as expected, the Redmi 8A MIUI 12.5 update is here. As usual, it’s for limited users to preview the build before the public rollout.
We expect the rollout to be swift, and there haven’t been any serious issues reported since the rollout began. Hence, the public will start getting the stable MIUI 12.5.1.0 QCOMIXM update soon. The update brings features of the new MIUI OS, which include instant response to gestures. Also, there have been custom device model adjustments to improve the speed of your device. Interestingly, MIUI has become faster, lighter, and smoother, which you’ll notice after the upgrade.
Aside from the features, the Android security patch level has been bumped to July 2021 to increase system security and stability. Also, the control center and notification panel UI have been revamped. Each notification now has a separate bar, and you can click on the notification bar to show a drop-down and then reply to each message without opening the app. And now it’s possible to swipe left or right to switch between the control center and notification panel. That’s when you reveal either of the two, though.
Again, the global Redmi 8A MIUI 12.5 update is a limited rollout. We expect a wider rollout in the coming days, and that will also see the rollout arrive in more regions. However, if you run the global ROM, you can download the build via the links below.
