Android 11 update for Redmi 9 arrives in Europe with June security patch. Download below
Xiaomi recently started upgrading the Redmi 9 to the latest security patch in select regions. That was after the company had already rolled out a stable Android 11-based MIUI 12 update for the units it sold in China. And as expected, the company has now released the global Redmi 9 Android 11 update. It is a limited release at the moment, meaning only a select few will receive the update until the Beta preview is over.
According to a report, the Global Redmi 9 Android 11 update is currently hitting units in Venezuela. However, that doesn’t mean only devices in that country are receiving the update, but rather those units running Global Stable ROM. The update is seeding with a version number – MIUI 12.0.1.0 RJCMIXM – and weighs in at 2.0GB. It brings a stable MIUI based on Android 11 while pushing the Android security patch level to May 2021. That’s outdated now, but it means the build has been a development for something. However, we expect a new update to bring the June security patch soon.
And while the global Redmi 9 Android 11 update is a welcome development, it’s important to backup your data before upgrading. There are a series of bugs plaguing Xiaomi phones running Android 11, of which you can fix some by performing a factory reset. However, that won’t fix the third-party launcher compatibility issues, so you’ll have to revert to the MIUI system launcher.
Again, the update is available for select users only at the moment. But with the link below, you can download the recovery ROM. As for when the update will be available in other regions, there’s currently no ETA. You can keep an eye on our tracker page to know when the update becomes available in your region.

The Indian version of the Redmi 9 is surprisingly getting a new stable update that sans the much-anticipated Android 11 build. That’s because, the European and Global variants have all received the Android 11 update. However, we believe this to be the last build before a new OS update starts seeding for the device in India.
