Well, it seems Xiaomi plans to upgrade its entry-level phones to MIUI 12 at the same time. According to Alvin Tse, the Redmi 9 MIUI 12 update is going to start seeding this month, but with the release of the November security patch, there’s now a doubt.
The global Redmi 9 users are currently receiving what they would tag an underwhelming update, given that it sans the much-anticipated MIUI 12. The current ETA we have as regards when the update is going to start rolling out doesn’t look feasible again, but we still recommend that you install the Redmi 9 November security patch.
It improves the system security and stability as well as bumping the Android security patch level to the latest version. There are some new features added to the camera: watermarks and fullscreen mode. Meanwhile, the Redmi 9 November security patch update is arriving with a version number, MIUI 11.0.9.0 QJCMIXM. It’s currently arriving for everyone, so you’ll soon get a prompt notification for a new update.
There’s an option to manually flash the ROM if you can’t wait for the OTA, simply follow the download link below. After completing the download, follow this link for how to flash Recovery ROM on Xiaomi phones.
As for when Redmi 9 MIUI 12 update will start seeding, we’re still counting on Alvin Tse November ETA, but that might see the update arrive in other regions. We still have to wait and see as we have got some days before the month ends.
